Herkimer Diamond "Briana"

Skeletal Herkimer Diamond with beautiful clarity and rainbow-filled facets. This was a part of a large crystal that it split from a long time ago.

Herkimer Diamond is the name given to a type of Quartz found only in Herkimer, New York. Naturally double-terminated and beautifully fascinating, Herkimer Diamonds are over 500 million years old. They often contain black inclusions, called anthraxolite, which is decayed plant matter from the time of the crystal’s formation. Orange/red inclusions are due to the presence of iron.

This particular piece is a Skeletal Herkimer Diamond. A skeletal crystal is one that develops under conditions of incredibly fast growth and supersaturation. The crystal’s atoms are added more rapidly to the outside than to the centers of crystal faces, which results in either branched, tree-like forms or hollow, stepped depressions.

Approximately 1.75" x 1" | 1.2 oz

Are your crystals ethically sourced? Are they real?

Yes!

We hand-select every piece we sell from a small number of trusted importers whom we work with face-to-face, and who practice transparent sourcing. The stones and fossils we carry are genuine, and they’re curated with love.
