Don is a regular in our shop and he loves all things shells. Don has also been mining his own fossils for over 50 years. These brachiopods were mined by Don himself in Kentucky in the 1970's. These particular brachiopods are from the Devonian era, roughly 400 million years ago.
Brachiopods have a very long history of life on Earth and have been around for at least 600 million years. Brachiopods are very interesting creatures - they are bivalves with two little tentacle-filled arms that help them harvest their microscopic food. Very rad.
